On May 16, 2019, the United States confirmed Jeffrey A. Rosen to be the Deputy Attorney General by a vote of 52-45. Deputy Attorney General Rosen was sworn into his new position on May 22, 2019, succeeding former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The Deputy Attorney General is the second highest ranking position at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), behind the U.S. Attorney General. The Deputy Attorney General may have influence over immigration matters in the jurisdiction of the DOJ .
