He is a member of The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization focused on helping domestic and family lawyers better serve their clients. Don has handled hundreds of domestic cases and his legal expertise in the area is highly regarded. Don's calm and reassuring demeanor assists his clients to better deal with the issues they face in emotionally charged domestic and family cases. His ability to hand-hold and guide his clients through difficult times has earned him the reputation of being among the best domestic lawyers in the state, one who is not only concerned with what goes on inside the court room, but who also seeks to make his clients aware of the community resources which they can avail themselves of. It can truly be said of Don that he seeks to provide his clients with all around service through their difficult times.

Don is a member of the following organizations: Utah State Bar; American Bar Association; Utah Trial Lawyers Association (President, 1987-188); The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; Central Utah Bar Association (President 1980); The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; Utah State Bar Ethics and Discipline Panel; Past Chairman Utah State Bar Client Security Fund.

Don and his wife have 6 children, two of whom have joined their father at our firm to continue the tradition of Howard, Lewis & Petersen.

In March 2005, Don and his wife traveled to Moscow for a period of 18 months to fulfill the duties of that position.  Upon returning to the office of Howard, Lewis & Petersen Don resumed the practice of law and continues in his commitment to provide a high level of service to his clients.
